Every innovation proposed at elBullirestaurante was born at elBullitaller. It was the first creative workshop in the history of the fine-dining sector dedicated exclusively to developing creative processes for a restaurant.
The intense investigation and study work that took place there during the months that the restaurant was closed meant that by the time the season at Cala Montjoi began, there was a wealth of ideas, concepts and intermediate elaborations that would subsequently blossom into the final elaborations offered in the different tasting menus to customers.
elBulli, Cooking in Progress is an interesting documentary, made on the initiative of the German screenwriter and director Gereon Wetzel, which gives an insight into the elBullirestaurante creative process.
Filming began in late 2008 at elBullitaller, in Barcelona, and was completed at Cala Montjoi at the start of the 2009 season. It sheds light on the long process carried out each year by the creative team led by Ferran Adrià.
It premiered in November 2010 at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, one of Europe’s most prestigious festivals of its kind. In 2011, it was entered in the Culinary Zinema section of the San Sebastian International Film Festival and has since then been shown in many countries around the world.
