An extraordinary aspect of the Neolithic period that we highlight is the creation of ceramics some three millennia after the beginning of the period. This furnished a great variety of containers for cooking, preserving, eating and drinking. Based on this event, we divide the chapter into two subchapters addressing Neolithic cooking, food and drink both before and after the appearance of ceramics. We consider ceramics to be the last prehistoric element forming the foundations of what, millennia later, gives rise to the gastronomic restaurant.<\/p>\n
Following the approach that we used for the Paleolithic, we will incorporate the Sapiens methodology to analyse all the elements Neolithic humans had at their disposal to facilitate their alimentation through cooking. We look at the preparations that the first sedentary peoples were capable of making, examining the main gastronomic resources they had available to them.
